COVID-19 Update for Good Friday/Easter

COVID-19 Update for Good Friday/Easter

Thursday, April 9, 2020

Happy Easter!  What a memorable way to celebrate the greatest event in our faith.  As we continue to submit (with joy!) to our governing authorities (under God) and follow their recommendation that we pursue social distancing measures, our purpose hasn’t changed: equipping you to glorify and enjoy God, forever, through Jesus, so that we are loving God and loving our neighbors.

We have a Good Friday experience online (on a Good Friday 2020 page on our website, we will NOT be live streaming on Good Friday) for you to take advantage of.  This is kind of a self-guided walk through Jesus’ journey to the cross.  There is a video from me to welcome you, some music, art, and Scripture readings to help guide you as you worship Jesus for all that He’s done.  Take advantage of what we’ve pulled together to serve you on Good Friday.

We will gather online on Easter Sunday, April 12 at 10:15 AM on the livestream (you could also look for us on Facebook Live or YouTube).  Facebook isn’t necessarily the best place to catch this as many churches are broadcasting live at the same time.  We’d encourage to watch through the church website.  Also, you can watch our broadcast on Apple TV, Fire TV, or Roku.  Open your device, add an app called “Boxcast,” then search for Crestview.  Favorite us and you’ll be ready for Sunday.

This livestream technically begins at 10:10 and we’ll have Announcements rotating as the broadcast begins, including a verse for Easter, some prayer points on the Gospel’s advance, and ways we can love our community in these days (as Barb Sundquist plays some hymns in the background).  Use the email address to communicate needs like help getting groceries, prayer needs, or even cash.  We’d love to do what we can to support one another.

We have a children’s Sunday School lesson you could teach with your kids (Easter Sunday Children’s Lesson / Video).  Romans 6:9 is our verse of the week.  Work on reviewing and considering this amazing Easter truth together.  As we gather online, I know many of us are missing regular singing, can we sing Crown Him With Many Crowns together?  For Easter, could we pray together for the Gospel’s advance here and around the world?  You can give online or mail a check to the church: 2401 N. Halstead, Hutchinson, KS 67502.  There are Sermon Notes for Easter(like you’d find it the bulletin), plus a sermon note form for children and middle schoolers.

Also, one more reminder that should the 10:15 slot not be ideal for your family in any way, you have the convenience of accessing the archive of each Sunday at a later time (it’s usually updated about 30 minutes after the live broadcast ends).

We are going to do a Zoom call for the upstairs Sunday School class at 2 PM Sunday.  Here’s a worksheet for the lesson (on work).  (If you didn’t get a Zoom invite, let us know)

Is there something we could do to serve you or an idea you have for how we might serve others?  If you think of anything, contact me, an elder, a deacon, or another person from Crestview.  I know these days are going to continue to show our resilience and demonstrate that our ultimate hope is in our Lord, Risen from the dead.

Love you.

Pastor Phil
