Therefore, Pray Earnestly

Therefore, Pray Earnestly

In Matthew 9, Jesus gives His disciples encouragement to pray: [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; [38] therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Prayer is an important part of our cross cultural work.

PLEASE PRAY…
Following is a list of 31 requests.  Please pray for a given request each day of the month.  (Months with 30 days will have an extra.) All requests are based on the given Scripture verses.

Please pray:
1.        We, in Christ’s righteousness, would be as bold as lions.  (Prov. 28:1 – The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.)
2.       We would be faithful to make the Lord’s glorious deeds known in all the earth, giving thanks to and praising Him.  (Isa. 12:4-5 – “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.  5 “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.)
3.       God would use us to cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.  (Isa. 61:11 – For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.)
4.       We would call to the Lord; He would answer us and tell us great and hidden things we have not known.  (Jer. 33:3 – Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.)
5.       God would use us to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.  (Hab. 2:14 – For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.)
6.       We would move forward based on the truth that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Christ’s church. (Mt. 16:18 – And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.)
7.       God would use us to proclaim this gospel of the kingdom throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations as the end draws near.  (Mt. 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.)
8.       We would be obedient to go and make disciples in the nations.  (Mt. 28:18-20 – And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”)
9.       God’s Spirit would flow out of our lives like rivers of living water.  (Jn. 7:37-39 – On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)
10.   We would abide in Jesus Christ and as a result, bear much fruit.  (Jn. 15:5 – I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.)
11.   We would abide in Christ and Christ’s words would abide in us, so that we would be able to pray according to God’s will and be confident that He will answer.  (Jn. 15:7 – If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.; 1 Jn. 5:14-15 – And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.)
12.   As those who the Holy Spirit indwells, we would be witnesses in Hutchinson, in Kansas, in the U.S.A. and to the ends of the earth.  (Acts 1:8– But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”)
13.   We would be devoted to the teaching of the word, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.  (Acts 2:42 – And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.)
14.   Jesus, the only name be which we must be saved, would be on our lips. (Acts 4:12 – And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”)
15.   Jesus Christ and His cross would be the only thing in which we boast.  (1 Cor. 1:31 – “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”; Gal. 6:14 – But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.)
16.   God would empower us to be equal to the task of being the fragrant aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  (2 Cor. 2:14-16 – But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?)
17.   We would be controlled by Christ’s love, living for Him who died for our sake.  (2 Cor. 5:14-15 – For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.)
18.   We would be cheerful givers in light of the grace God can make abound to us.  (2 Cor. 9:6-8 – The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.)
19.   We would be servants of Christ, seeking God’s approval, not men’s.  (Gal. 1:10 – For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.)
20.   Christ would dwell in our hearts through faith as God strengthens us through the power of the Holy Spirit so that we would know the infinite love of Christ and be filled with all the fullness of God.  (Eph. 3:14-19 – For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.)
21.   We would have the mind of Christ, counting others as more significant than ourselves and looking out for the interest of others.  (Phil. 2:3-5 – Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus)
22.   We would walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in knowing Him.  (Col. 1:10 – so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.)
23.   We would seek and set our minds on things above, not on earthly things, for we have died and our lives are hidden with Christ in God.  (Col. 3:1-4 – If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.)
24.   The word of the Lord would sound forth from us, and our faith in God would go forth everywhere.  (1 Thess. 1:8 – For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.)
25.   We would be waiting for Jesus’ return from heaven Who was raised from the dead and rescues us from the coming wrath.  (1 Thess. 1:10 – and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.)
26.   We would be a people zealous for good deeds.  (Tit. 2:14 – who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.)
27.   We would be looking for a country of our own and for a city with foundations whose designer and builder is God.  (Heb. 11:1016 – For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.  16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.)
28.   We would consider the reproach of Christ greater than the treasures of this world as we look forward to the reward.  (Heb. 11:26 – He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.)
29.   We would await and hasten the coming of the day of God, living lives of godliness and holiness.  (2 Pet. 3:11-12 – Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!)
30.   God would set before us an open door that no one is able to shut, in spite of our little power.  (Rev. 3:8 – I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.)
31.   God would use us to proclaim the message of the Lamb that was slain to every tribe and language and people and nation.  (Rev. 5:9 – And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation)
